How To Cut Your Own Hair During “Social Distancing” (Or Any Time!)

One of the complaints that some-or many-people have during this “social distancing” and/or “self quarantining” during this coronavirus scare or pandemic or whatever one wishes to call it is the difficulty people are having keeping their hair cut. I myself haven’t gone to a barber or a beauty salon in years as I’ve cut my own hair. I used to cut my hair with scissors and a prayer. Then, a few years ago, a family member gave me as a Christmas present this set of Wahl hair clippers. I admit, I was a bit hesitant about using these clippers since, knowing me, I thought I would screw it up. But then I used the clippers for the first time and was amazed at how easy it was.

The Wahl hair clippers come with a set of different colored “guide combs” that come in different sizes for different hair lengths. All you do is pick out which comb you want with the desired hair length you want-I personally use the 1 inch comb myself-and all you do is attach it to the top of the blade and turn on the clippers and run it through your hair until your hair is cut the way you want it. That’s it! About the only way you could screw it up is if you pick a comb that’s too small and you cut your hair shorter than you’d like (which I admit I did one time). Here is a YouTube video that shows you how to use the Wahl hair clippers. (You can, of course, ignore the boy who looks like a reject from Children Of The Corn!)

You can, of course, get a set of Wahl clippers from practically any department store and/or online. The cheapest is probably from Wal-Mart where you can get a set for around 20 bucks. I’ve also seen a set on Amazon for around 30 bucks. You can, of course, shop around for whichever set you feel is best for you hair needs. (And, just so you know, I’m NOT being paid by Wahl for writing this article! Hint, hint, Wahl!)

Anyway, be safe. And happy cutting!
